Handmade Cards
This site is a place to get ideas for handmade cards, using a variety of techniques and tools. I stamp, quill, decoupage, emboss, and learn new techniques daily from Jennifer Mcguire, GinaK, and others on Youtube. I have so much fun coming up with new card ideas or adapting cards I see on other websites. Of course, making a card is not a cost-savings. My family jokes that each card must cost me about $500 because I'm constantly shopping for new papers, pens, stamps, inks, embossing tools, and every other cool thing I can find. I love to shop on-line at paper craft and stamping sites, but I also love Joann's for basic supplies. Pat Catan's is great for all kinds of art supplies locally, but i also find Simon Says Stamp a goldmine of cool supplies, plus it's here in Ohio.
Please understand that I'm not claiming to be an expert at this--I'm the world's biggest experimenter. That's how I learn and play. I hope you can get some ideas to use with your own card making. Nothing expresses your love and caring more than something you've taken the time and energy to create for someone special.
I have a big family--a husband, seven grown children, in-law chidren, 12 grandchildren, two great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and 2 siblings and all their families. So birthdays are certainly my most often created cards. But I also do Thank You cards and other specialty cards. Around each fun holiday, I make cards for all my grandchildren and insert a $5 or $10 bill. The most fun are Halloween and Valentines Day.
Bless you and keep making cards. Enjoy and steal my ideas shamelessly!
